Anyway, I came in work today and my Fijian co-worker who sits near me was on the phone. After he hung up, he told he that he was just on the phone with his family in Fiji because back in March 2010, a Reverend in Fiji announced that he just had a divine revelation and at 2:30pm (Fijian time, GMT+12 – that’s 12:30pm in Sydney, AUS) on the 23rd of June, 2010, Fiji will encounter a national disaster like never before.
Needless to say, that’s why my co-worker was on the phone.
His mother told him that the weather was fine and everything seems normal. (1st call).
Later around 12pm (AUS), he gets a message from his mother telling him that at about ~10:15am, there was an earthquake near Fiji and Tonga, Richter scale of 4.5, and that the weather was starting to cloud up a bit.
However it seems that Fiji is fine; it is now 1:18pm, which is 3:18pm in Fiji.
What I’m interested in is.. how do people generally take news like this? Religious or not.
If it does happen, what does this mean to you?
