[REVIEW] Angel Beats!

I want to sleep, so I’m going to keep this short.

Another anime by Key (well, kind of – joint production in a way) who have brought us animes/visual novels such as Clannad, Air, and Kanon.

All lovely titles.

Angel Beats! is no exception, although it is a bit different from the usual genres that Key like to use, it was quite a welcomed direction.

Angel Beats!

So first off:

In a world after death, angels fight for their fate and their future. Yuri, the leader of the Shinda Sekai Sensen, rebels against the god who destined her to have an unreasonable life. On the other hand, Tenshi (Angel), the chairperson of the student council for the world after death, battles against the SSS members. SSS members utilize armed weaponry to battle it out against the angels harnessing supernatural powers.

So pretty much a bunch of students, who have already died, are in a world whereby if they follow the school rules, and the Angel’s rules, they’ll eventually disappear. The reasons for this is later discovered. But it is due to this that a group of students started to rebel against fate.

The anime has elements of good entertainment and comedy (the Guild episodes XD).

To be honest, I’ve never been a huge fan of Key’s art, but then again it’s not like it’s terrible. Just doesn’t really stand out. That doesn’t mean I don’t like it, I just have other favourites.

The anime has a bit of a music focus – so the music pieces were quite good. Key’s productions always make me want to play the piano again..

The ending was already great, there were no dull moments, except maybe episode 1 when I was thinking, “What the hell is going on?!”.

Should check it out, especially if you’re a Key fan like me 🙂
