[ANIME] Summer 2010

(End of the spring season: Ah, It Must Be Spring pt. 2..)

I wonder if I can be bothered making this extensive as last time.. maybe!

So, the spring season for anime has finished in Japan, and the summer season has started for awhile now. I guess this could be like the 2nd month of the summer season since June kind of overlapped with the spring season.

Spring season was namely ecchi, school, slice of life, romance, comedy, and a bit of action/supernatural.

Quick recap of the spring in my personal opinion (pt1 & pt2):

Winners of Spring:

Worth Watching:

  • Working!! – Was pretty good for most of it, but sometimes got a bit stale and the ending was a bit…..
  • Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou – quite enjoyable, I managed to get through it without problems!
  • K-ON!! – still ongoing, I like K-ON generally, but sometimes it’s over-moe.

Special Mention:

Both of these weren’t really part of the Spring season, but they finished lately and they were VERY GOOD.

I still have a tonne of animes on the backburner as well.. gahhh

Anyway for Winter:

The theme for this season seems to be supernatural/horror, school and fantasy with a pinch of ecchi.

Currently Watching:

  • Amagmi SS – only 1 episode released, it’s based off a ps2 dating sim, so the story will be told in a few perspectives, seems like an interesting approach – probably one of the more “tamed” anime for this season.
  • Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu – I saw the first episode last night and am a bit confused as to what is going on haha.
  • Giant Killing – Football (soccer) anime, J-league style. Quite fitting for the world cup, it’s about 14 episodes in, and it’s VERY GOOD (is it embarrassing to cheer for anime football matches? lol).
  • Highschool of the Dead – About a bunch of highschool students trying to survive a zombie pandemic; as someone said on MAL – “can’t go wrong with zombies”. Very good, started reading the manga (only 1 episode has been released..).
  • Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatchi – I loved Toradora! And the main character in this pretty much looks like Taiga haha, been awhile since I’ve seen a tsundere.
  • Seitokai Yakuindomo – this is a bit weird, reminds me of Seitokai no Ichizon, but it’s been quite funny for episode 1, voice for the main is also by Yoko Hikasa who does the voice for Mio in K-ON!, so it’s quite interesting to see her take this role.
  • Shukufuku no Campanella – not too sure how this will play out, but an interesting first episode.

Well a lot of anime would be coming out for this season I’d imagine since it’s the long summer break for Japan.

Enjoy.
