USA Trip ’12-’13 – Day 21

As I thought.. Definitely a lot of walking today and tonight. Really need to fix my slouching habit – I can’t help it, I’m in IT :(.

Kicked off today with a McDonald’s breakfast.. As bad as it is (health-wise), the breakfast menu here is just extensive and delicious. Coffee.. Well.. 😛

image

As we walked towards the memorials and museums we ran into the marching rehearsals for the inauguration next week. So.. We kind of followed them the whole way haha.

image

Some interesting sights along the way and really been enjoying the buildings here.

Back of the White House.

And the front – foggy day again..

image

First main stop of the day was the American History Museum.

image

We spent like 2 and a half hours on this exhibition alone.. Pretty sure that was around the same time we spent in The Sixth Floor Museum.

image

Some real nice pieces in this exhibit.

image

Loved this quote.

image

They even had the original Star-Spangled Banner there too.. No photos but man, definitely worth a look.

The ‘Changing America’ exhibition was a great insight on the major Civil Rights movements. No photos again haha.. Not that people really followed it.

image

This was the Hirshhorn Art and Sculpture Garden. We came back a bit later though.

image

We made a stop at the Air and Space museum but neither of us really had major interests here. So I just needed to quickly get a picture of..

image

Guess?

Afterwards we headed back to the sculpture place as Ai Weiwei’s exhibition is currently on display until February.

image

A lot of interesting works but I can’t really say I know much about him, his works.. Or contemporary / minimalistic art in general.

image

But hey, nice on the eyes.

image

One more.. Hmm which one..

image

Rest on my Facebook.. Way too many photos today (100+).

Dinner was at Chipotle (finally, much to Fred’s delight).

image

Then.. Night walk back to the monuments and memorials! In very thick fog :/.

image

Need to go back again. Hopefully the fog dies out tomorrow.

No more of this weak stuff:

There’s a nice eerie feeling of walking around in this thick fog. It does make the monuments look nicer but.. Not for photos.

The reflection pool just was waaaay too blocked haha. Just darkness in the photo.

I’ll try again tomorrow.. Natural History Museum too, heard good things!

Also, what’s up with the number of joggers here in DC? From 8AM till 11PM.. So many! In the fog! The dark!

I swear they’re all agents / secret service.. Dun dun dun!!
