I have been thinking whether or not I should write something up for this weekend trip I took to Thredbo in early August. On one hand I felt like from a travel perspective there was probably nothing too special about the trip.. however on the other hand my blog’s inactivity is really racking up (and it’s only looking to get worse after this post).
Since I have tomorrow off I thought I may as well type this up because I haven’t been posting much anyway!
Snow trip.. snowboarding.. it’s something that’s been lingering in the back of my mind since 2011 when I was invited to try snowboarding for the first time.
To me the experience of carving through snow (well “leaf~ing” haha :P) was a feeling I have been wanting to relive since I got back that weekend. Unfortunately towards the end of that year I injured my left knee (and re-injured!) which made me skip out of 2012 completely out of caution.
Last year was a good chance but I guess laziness took over. So this year I was determined to make sure I at least go once (namely to see how my knee would stick it out – that mental image of it twisting always haunts me.. ugh..). But at the same time it was a chance to continue my quest of world travel!
Part 2! Woo this productivity.
Oh, before I dive into it, I have to say.. the combination of E and P in the backseat together, not a good idea, in fact it was a terrible idea. Now S and I know how our parents felt when we got restless in the backseat on long drives with the family.
So in brief, road trip notes with E, S and P:
- Collaborative Spotify playlist – so many new songs to add to my playlist now 🙂
- No one got irritated
- No fighting 😀
- Good driver balance
- Good conversation
- Range of snacks
- E + P backseat combination
- Not quite understanding the petrol station etiquette
So generally pretty good.
OK, day 3!
I better get this out in case I get chased seeing that E has already put hers up –
I’ll just need to one-up her and complete it ALL in 1 post like last year :). OK, it started getting too long, I’ll split it into Day 1 & 2 | Day 3 & 4.
I should really be making a start on my INFS5872 assignment but.. ah well, this one is for you guys E, S and P (oh hey, ESP, teehee).
So as we approached this Easter long weekend I thought to myself, ‘Wouldn’t it be awesome to drive down to Melbourne?’ after all, I’ve been dying to push the car for a road trip. (Out of sheer desperation, jokes, relax, don’t get mad) I voiced this idea to E to see what she thought of the idea and surprisingly she was quite receptive – the promise of food perhaps?
Anyway the rest is history.
The trip kicked off with S and I setting off at 3:30AM on the 18th of April 2014 (Good Friday) to go get E and P.
I like to keep to traditions or rituals or habits. For example, before I start a blog entry I tend to make sure I have some kind of beverage ready, switch to headphones and then have music playing. Like before I take an exam I like to make sure I get to the exam venue at least 1 hour beforehand and have a sandwich or something light.
In this case I’m going to stick to the “BLTS” tradition of being the first to publish a blog entry about our group happenings.
So the four of us managed to scrap up a plan together and get away for the weekend to (not Sydney) Melbourne. For me, it’s been something I have wanted to do for awhile now.. a mixture of intent to see the Australian Open (tennis) someday and because last year in October the ACMI had a videogames exhibit.
For various reasons we couldn’t get the trip together until this year, that’s OK, I managed to selfishly squeeze in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (at last! This one has been on my list for over 5 years).
Here we go – more photos than text because I know that no one actually reads what I type (I sometimes cry myself to sleep).
So I ended (get it!?) doubling the number of posts anticipated.. ah well. Someday I’ll learn to use photos conservatively..
It’s current 1:36AM and I should really be sleeping since I have day 2 of a badminton tournament to go to. Just don’t feel like it yet.. some of today’s competition is still playing back in my head – great experience and quite fun. However I keep thinking ‘if only..’ haha, June! June, waiting for you to come..
At least that’s one thing I can tick off for this year. Few more things to tick off for the months to come!
So I think I left the last post on badminton night – quite fitting actually. That club plays their games to 30, it’s interesting that S.Korea clubs generally only play doubles, I suppose that’s why it’s their specialty. Today’s competition for the low grades were also up to 30.. strange.
Couple of days left.. not that many photos left I believe.
March 10th, whoops.. something got left on the back burner!
I think it was justified though, with the release of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm and Tomb Raider I had to make sure I finished them first.. so that’s what my time has been invested in lately.
I had to flick back to the last post to check what I was planning to post on this week haha. Not a lot of photos because Daegu is such a hole (LOL don’t get mad Hans I’m just joking!).
Day 2 of Daegu:
